The benefits of fat freezing
Fat freezing reduces fat cells and therefore stubborn fat deposits long-term.
As a result of fat freezing localised fat cells begin to break down and die, after which they are removed from the body through the body's natural processes. The fat cells that are removed are not regenerated, and as long as weight is maintained or lost, the fat that's been removed won't return.

Fat freezing is the safest fat reduction treatment, is non-invasive and non-surgical and there is no risk of infection or allergic reaction. There is no requirement for anaesthesia or even numbing cream, and clients can go about their day-to-day activities immediately following treatment. To reach most goals only a small number of treatments are required. Most clients have 2 to 3 treatments to reach their overall results fat loss results. These treatments are spaced a minimum of 6 weeks apart.

What to expect from fat freezing appointment
Fat freezing treatment is not as dooming as it may seem at first. Appointments take between one and three hours depending on the number of applicators booked, and during most of this time our clients are generally very relaxed.
​
When you come in for your first appointment we first go through a simple consultation where we discuss your goals, your health and go through the treatment in detail. We talk everything through before we get started, so you feel comfortable and fully informed at each step of the way.

We make sure the treatment is as comfortable as possible. When we get started you get comfortable on the treatment bed, often wearing most if not all your clothes, as we just need access to the area that we want to treat. Your clothes will be covered by towels as the antifreeze membranes used during treatment (these keep your skin protected) are covered in a gel that could otherwise run into your clothes.

The treatment itself

The fat freezing applicators are placed on the body one at a time, up to four in total (depending on what you have booked and the area, or areas, you want to treat). We do not rush this process and wait until you're comfortable with each applicator before progressing to the next. The placing of the applicators can be uncomfortable as the applicators attach to the fatty tissue through suction. The applicator basically pinches the localised fat and pulls it into the cooling space within the applicator.

After placement of the applicators they cool down to the exact degree that suits the area most, providing a safe and effective fat reduction treatment.

Each applicator stays on the body for 45 minutes exactly. For most clients the treatment is really relaxing once the applicators have settled. You can rest, chat, read a book or spend time on your phone.

Risks and side effects of treatments
Cryolipolysis fat freezing side effects are minimal, and more serious side effects are very rare.
​
Most commonly clients experience bruising, redness, numbness and a tingling sensation in the treated area for hours to days following treatment. Some experience a minor burning sensation similar to a mild sunburn and mild swelling. Swelling from fat freezing is uncommon, typically is more likely to appear after stomach treatments and is minimal. In a worse case scenario these mentioned side effects last around a week.

Worse side effects are very rare, and no such cases are known at our clinic. These include blistering, ice burns, frost bite, nodulation and uneven results, and paradoxical adipose hyperplasia; an enlargement of the area.
How we further reduce the risk of rare but serious side effects
At the start of the treatment we check with you to make sure that you do not suffer from any health conditions that could possibly make you vulnerable to ice burns and frost bite. Suffering from such health conditions, such as cryoglobulinemia, Raynaud's, paroxysmal cold haemoglobinuria or cold urticaria would therefore unfortunately make you unsuitable from treatment.
During treatment we use anti-freeze membranes to protect the skin and keep the skin from responding negatively to treatment, causing the abovementioned side effects. We only use high quality products during our treatments and carry out safety checks with each applicator we place to ensure the skin is fully protected.

We only go as low in temperature as we need to go to get the best results in the safest manner. Fat freezing becomes highly effective at -1 to -4 degrees Celsius, depending on the thickness of the fat in the treatment area. We follow strict protocols and only go as low as we need to go, as its known that with every degree lower the risk of side effects worsens.

At our Manchester clinic we also offer HI-EMT muscle stimulation and ultrasound cavitation with radiofrequency treatments. We do not offer fat dissolving injections such as Lemon bottle due to concerns regarding safety, efficacy, and severity of side effects of these treatments.
